Matching Pairs Memory Game - Play at Home

The Matching Pairs Memory Game traces its's roots back to the Ming Dynasty in China in 1400 AD when the modern playing card was first created.

To play the game take a deck of 52 French playing cards and:
  • Pull the 4 Jacks, 4 Queens and 4 Kings and set them aside,
  • Shuffle the remaining cards,
  • Deal the cards face down in 5 rows of 8 cards (see visual below).

This game can be played with one or more players.
  • When more than one player plays, the player with the most pairs wins. If there is a tie, play again to break the tie,
  • When one player plays see how much time it takes to get all the pairs. Then play again and try to beat that time.

The object of the game is to turn cards over 2 at a time. If they match you keep the pair. If they do not match turn them back over face down.

Remember where each card you turn back over face down is.

You are looking for matched:
  • pairs of red Ace's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's,
  • pairs of black Ace's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's.
