The 1-1-2 System of Play in Futsal
Small sided soccer training games played in small areas have been played worldwide under many different names for over a century. Systems like the 1-1-2 are most frequently played under the following conditions.
Static 1-1-2 System of Play in FutsalThe 1-1-2 System, with 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 2 attackers, is most commonly played in games when the opposing team's players do not pass to each other, the opponent with the ball always tries to dribble to shoot on the opponents goal and the midfielder and defender only need to play in depth, one behind the other, between the opponent with the ball and the goal their team is defending.
The 1-1-2 system can also used when the opposing team has had a player carded and is playing down a player, with only 3 players on the court, for 2 minutes. The 1-1-2 system can also be used when a team is behind in the score, does not have a goalkeeper who can join the attack by playing as a court player and needs to apply additional pressure to score on their opponent's before the game is over.
