Faster Scan Rate Training for Soccer
Recent studies show almost all players stare at the ball 54 seconds a minute and only look for teammates, opponents and spaces 4 times a minute for a total of 6 seconds. See animation below of the amount of time most players scan the field to see where teammates, opponents and open spaces are. Warning - you have to wait 13.5 seconds between scans.
Bibliography - The average person has weak eye muscles with average eye teaming (coordinated movement of both eyes).
The same studies, referenced above, show athletes who use peripheral eye movement are capable of learning to scan more often and for far shorter duration than untrained players. The studies show up to 26 one seconds scans a minute are possible. See animation below of 26 one second scans a minute. Warning - you only have to wait 1.308 seconds between scans.
