Eye Muscle & Teaming Exercises

The eye muscles usually develop and learn to work together by trial and error as individuals mature and are learning and need to do more visual processing with their eyes.

Both eyes must learn to work together to develop binocular vision which gives you your depth perception, near far vision and dynamic visual acuity. When both eyes do not work together you have monovision and can not do these things.

The first step in developing better visual processing skills are eye muscle and teaming (working together) exercises. The first two eye muscle development skills are done with your chin up and your head pointed straight ahead. You only move your eyes:
  • as far to you left as you can and then as far to the right as you can continuously until your eyes get tired or for 5 minutes, whichever comes first.

  • as far up as you can and then as far down as you can continuously until your eyes get tired or for 5 minutes, whichever comes first.
